Q&A with James Hollanby, Architect / Associate at ArchCollab
This week we’re gaining an insight into one of ArchCollab’s Architects, James. James has been around to see the various evolutions of the company and has himself, transitioned from a student, through to a Registered Architect and an Associate of the company. He’s experienced a lot throughtout his career and is a valuable source of knowledge for the rest of the team.
What’s your role at ArchCollab, and what does it involve?
I’m an Architect / Associate / Project Manager…. My role is a balance of Technical Design and Project Management. The Architect side of my brain wants to meticulously test and resolve every detail of the design while the PM side is focused on delivery, deadlines and budgets!
What is the first thing you do when you sit down to work?
I like to hit the ground running and jump straight into some project work. Coffee cravings hit me around 10am.
What are you passionate about? What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Collaborating with the ArchCollab team, clients, consultants and builders to ensure we deliver projects that we are proud of.
What is your favorite city in the world for its architecture/design and why?
Barcelona. I’m a Gaudi fan
What elements do you feel are important in architecture/design?
Not taking the easy option and fighting for the best outcome.
